    Hi all,
Have a 2007 2.0Tdi avensis, with no arm-rest. Just wondering is it posible to retro-fit an arm rest in the car, and where could I get my hands on one?
has anyone experidence of doing this kind of job, and is it easy to do? Messy?
Does it ruin the look of the interiour of the car?

It's a screw in job afaik. I know a taxi driver who got one put in his base spec Avensis

I wouldn't bother tbh OP, I'm driving that model Avensis presently which has the armrest; it bugs the hell out of me whenever I want to change gear cause it gets in my way, tbh I just wish the armrest was the type seen in some VW's and Fords where you can just lift it up out of the way and leave it there.

you can get them from the dealer but they charge a ridiculous amount for them,i remember my dad wanted one put into his car (07 avensis aswell) and was ranting on about how much it would cost to retrofit it,well over €200 if memory serves,
this was the main dealer though might not be the cheapest route:)

It's possible to fit them alright. although Toyota don't sell it as an accessory. you can order it as a spare part for a 1.8/D-4D Luna model.

    2 options:

    Toyota dealer (around 250 quid)
Scrapyard (get one from a Luna model)

The armrest itself is held in with 4 screws, the bracket/spring is screwed in to the back of the centre conole (screw heads pointing towards back seat.
You need to remove the trim piece that the rear ashtray is on and (if you get a new armrest) cut 2 slots in the piece of trim to allow the hinge to open. If you're getting an armrest from a scrapped Luna model make sure you get the trim piece as well (and you get a rear 12v power point as a bonus!)

Make sure the screws you're using aren't too long as they'll go through into the cubby box if they are.
Don't worry about the interior trim matching, it's plain black and matches all seats.
