I do all my own maintainance on my car except for the gearbox oil and filter change which needs to be done every 60k, It's meant to be a pig of a job to do yourself so I always let main dealer do it.
Has anybody got a DSG box in their car and has

    (A) done it themselves
    or
    (B) got a main dealer to do it
    or
    (C) got a gearbox specialist to do it

    Any chat on this appreciated

Ive been told an audi tool - which is just a bottle with some connectors on it is required.
Im sure it coud be done without this too.

I have a Mark 5 Golf GTI with a a DSG gear box. At 60,000 kms I got the DSG service carried out by VW in Belfast.

I think it cost about £200 sterling. which was a good bit cheaper than any VW dealer in Dublin.

It really did make a big difference to the gearbox. everthing seemed alot smoother.

Strongly recommend getting it done. Ye I think it is a tricky job to do on your own.

its not too bad to do here is a run down on how to do it

you need the vas 6262 tool or make your own here

you also need vcds (vag-com) to get the temperature of the gearbox oil

Thanks, this is my third change(180k) and I've not missed one yet but I would rather do it myself as then I know its done properly!
