Im laid up in bed with a virus. I dont have a telly just a laptop. My GF goes to the video rental place on the way home from work and rents a movie or two for me, but I am quickly running out of movies I know and like, and want something new.

I watched the Illusionist last night for the first time and really enjoyed it.

    My favourite movies include:

    Shawshank Redemption
    Casablanca
    12 Angry Men
    The Green Mile
    The Dark Knight
    V for Vendetta
    Snatch
    The 13th floor
    The Matrix(first one only obviously)
    The Great escape
    Start Trek VI

Can you recommend something to me? I like scifi but not horror. While I like comedy, I cant stand Will Ferrill or Ben Stiller.

The Prestige - Watched it around the same time as The Illusionist and like them both.

Between my personal collection of DVDs and the movie rental place's variety, I have completed that list.

    Anything else?

    joint security area

doesn't get much better than this
Joint Security Area (2000) is a South Korean film directed by Park Chan-wook. Its plot revolves around efforts to unravel the truth behind an illegal shooting at the politically and militarily sensitive North-South Korean border.

it might not sound great from that description, but it really is a fantastic movie.

500 Days of Summer is a quirky and good film to watch.

Judging by your film selection I would say True Romance or The Usual Suspects but I would hazard a guess you have seen them already so I propose you do what I did last time I was sick and watch Predator because quite simply it is awesome and you know it is!! :pac:

Die hard is on at the moment. :D

Misery I will check out. Dont like the sound of Martyrs but will look into Joint Security Area.

EDIT: Misery sounds a bit like a plot line coming up on Coronation Street where Mary kidknaps Norris.

I dont think Corrie will get as dark and tense as Misery.

Considering your watching Die Hard, then i suggest Die Hard 2, Die Had with a Vengenace...and *whispers* Die Hard 4.0.

Come back and let us know if that's how you still feel after seeing the "hobbling" scene :D

Any scene with Mary is dark and tense in my opinion. Have misery on the must watch list.

    So do I.

Did star wars the other day. All 6 in a row. It was great.

Did BTTF not long ago. Am currently doing Die Hard. Might do Xmen tomorrow or Indiana Jones

Any other trilogies you would recommend?

    Bear in mind the following:
    I didnt like Spiderman 1 and 3
    Dont like horror
Didn't like Lord of the Rings

The 3 Bourne films are good for a bit of watching without having to concentrate too much, or of course the Godfathers!

The Lives of Others is on BBC4 in the wee hours tonight if you have the capabilities to record it.

Really great German thriller from a few years back.

    There will be blood.
It's a strange film as it's not exactly exciting in the traditional sense but at the same time It's kind of edge of your seat stuff.I know everyone goes on about Day-lewis's performance but it is all true.He absolutely carries this flick from start to finish.

Just a couple more suggestions before bedtime, Layer Cake has to be included.

    And a few trilogys,

    Beverly Hills Cops
Tom Clancys ( Clear & Present Danger, Patriot Games and the daddio Hunt for Red October)
Ghostbusters (though it really should be only the first)
and any 3 of the National Lampoon movies (though personally i'd go for the Chevy Chase vacation ones)
