well lads, noticed recently the ram on my fleming power box is leaking, fairly annoying as the its only about 4 years old and has done feck all work, anyway could you put a seal on this yourself, it looks like the end of the cylinder screws off or would you need to bring to one of those ram repair lads?

Yes you can unscrew the cap and pull the ram out. You could replace the seals your self if your competent, however I send any seals to the local hydraulic man it doesnt cost much and doesnt take long for him to replace them.

Take a look at the end of the ram where it screws off. A lot of them need a special spanner, which although you could buy it/fabricate it/ use a punch will make the job expensive/time consuming unless you've good gear in your workshop. It is possible and easily done with the right gear. If your used to fabricating your own tools go for it, the seals shouldn't be very expensive.

Ask your local agri garage roughly how much it'll cost before you try it yourself. They'll have done this before so you don't even need to use a hydraulics specialist.
