    I've a satallite cable going through my attic and coming down from the ceiling into the box.

    Its not very pleasing to the eye a cable coming down from the ceiling.

    on the wall there is a coxial socket for an aerial.

    Can in connect the f type satallite cable to the coxial cable that connects to the socket downstairs and plug the sky box into the wall instead of having a cable coming down from the ceiling.

    Is it as simple as that or is there more to it

    connect the cable as you planned, if it does not work remove the wall plate and conect cable directly to receiver,,,,,a lot of the wall plates do not allow the receiver voltage back up to the LNB

    I got a length of satellite cable and joined it to the cable coming from the dish with the proper connectors and connected it to the box but it does not work. :mad:

    I checked the continunity with a multimeter and its fine, there must be some little think i've not done

    Could you try bypassing the box, going straight to the STB,thereby iliminating any component in the box as mentioned before?

    That's what i tried and it does not work, it works fine with the cable coming dirrectly from the dish but when i connect another cable i cannot get it to work.

    excuse my ignorance is the STB the receiver

    Can't see why that shouldn't work. Am using a similar system myself, multiple cables were fed down to the room (from attic) for SAT/TV/FM + feed back up from VCR to distribution system. This in the days before Sky Digital! Anyway I'm now using two of those cables for the Sky+ feeds and it works no probs. As a another poster pointed out some coax outlets will block the power going up to the LNB. Try connecting it up with the cover plate off altogether and if it works, remove the board & socket from the plate and just feed the the sat cable out through the hole in the cover plate to your receiver.

    Disconnect the satellite cable from the rear of the receiver.

    Connect this cable (or a new feed cable) directly from the Satellite dish to the end of the cable going from the wall plate to the attic, depending on whats in the house already this may be connected through a terrestrial system, it requires a couple of diplexers if you need these channels to stay going to your TV.
    If nothing is connected then continue.

    Connect the cable from the attic to the lnb connector that you removed first and this should work.

    As the guys already mentioned it is best to remove the guts of the wall plate and connect direct.

    If your stuck PM me and I will go through your install step by step. I unfortunately have a lot of time on my hands right now.

    STB = Set Top Box.

    make sure there are no stray wires in the connections.
