Just heard EJOG on ATR and when you reflect on his Cheltenham record, he has to have a serious chance in at least 3 races. Have done a e/way lucky 15 including 3 of his:

    Alavain
    Tranquil Sea
    Shot from the Hip
included Son Amix for Fred Winter as the 4th.

Was tempted to put up Osana as highest rated hurdler in Arkle but I am not convinced he is up to market principals class.

    Any views?

shot form the hip and tranquil I'd say yes, but the other two being juvenile races have alot of unknown quantities, especially in the fred winter, and not sure if alavain will necessarily reverse form with Carlito Brigante

Agree that Alaivan is shocking value imo, anyone backing him is strictly backing it on what it achieved on the flat, has all the hallmarks of the 'talking horse' that goes over from Ireland nearly every year and fails, FWIW I think you could say the same re. Rite of Passage.

Your wrong on both counts, Alaivan is priced right IMO 5/1 or there abouts is about right, has looked very good over hurdles apart fron the run against Carlito Brigante, obv talent and jumps well. If he was 2/1 he would be shocking value

And as for Rite of Passage, if coming third to a superstar at the track on the champion bumper, sluicing up in a november handicap and winning both his starts over hurdles on the bridle over 2 miles and 2 and a half miles doesn't entitle him to be favourite, show me anyone with better credentials in the race

5/1 is gone on Alaivan AFAIK and tbh I cannot for the life of me understand how he is shorter than Carlito Brigante and the recent record of Irish horses in this race is very poor.

Rite of Passage; how can he be value at 3/1 when Quel Esprit is available @12/1, I know where id prefer to have my money and actually watch last years bumper again out of the two one was finding something coming up the hill and it wasnt ROP. When ROP ran at Puchestown Weld said that the undulations of the track didnt suit so Chelt is hardly going to suit if thats the case, all this added to Welds dismal record in Chelt, make ROP @3's a lay for me.

Difference of opinion I suppose, Quel Espirit needs further, the Albert Bartlett is where he should turn up. I think ROP is a cracking bet at 3/1, I would still back him at 2/1.

Well see thats the thing if you are backing ROP i'd take the 3's ( contradicting myself now i know) because when Dunquib wins the supreme by a distance on the bridle the 3/1 will be gobbled up and you may well be only getting your 2/1.
