Can I claim the dole??

    Hi folks,

    I am wondering if I can claim the dole? I left my job at the end of last year voluntarily and I am also going travelling in April for a year. So my question is can I claim and if so can I get money back for the 8 weeks I haven’t been claiming?

    You cannot apply for JSA (if you qualify for it, with sufficient stamps) for 9 weeks if you voluntarily leave your job.

    You need to register immediately- and would presumably qualify from the date 9 weeks hence from when you left your last job.

    You have to be genuinely seeking employment- which if you've already planned on taking a year out travelling from the start of April- you may have difficulty proving......

    No you cannot back claim JSB or JSA.
