    Hello.

I'm in the process of buying a used throttle body from the UK for my 1999 Mazda 323 1.8 GT. The company I'm buying it from require the part number to make sure it's the correct one. Problem is I'm having trouble finding the part number. As far as I can see it's not visible on the throttle body iteslf and I've been in touch with 2 Mazda dealers and they both told me it's against company policy to give out the part numbers. Is this right?

Anyway that's my problem and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers :)

There are one or two Mazda forums in the UK that would have experts on that engine. There's also US forums, but not sure if the engine is exactly the same, there seems to be subtle differences in cams, "swirl flaps", engine power etc between Jap,US, and european engines. I'd assume it's (almost) the same engine as the 1.8 626 (and therefor almost the same as the 2.0), but how almost is almost?

How almost is almost indeed. Thanks, I'll give them a try.

I'd recommend sticking with the UK forums, but if you do try the US forums the 323f (and the 3?) was sold as the protege there.... but you probably knew that..

You could just price and have a look at a throttle body for a 1.8 626 engine from a scrappie, if it wasn't that expensive you could always give it a shot? (I've no idea how much a throttle body is tho!)

Finally got the part number from a very helpful dealer. Definately pays to shop around. Part new from Mazda costs 450 + vat. Getting one shipped from the uk to my door for only £112.50 STG.
