Hi everyone, I have a couple of quick questions.

    1. I'm unable to collect my dole next Wednesday because I will be away at an interview that cannot be re-scheduled (high number of applicants).
How long does my payment stay in the post office before it is sent back?

    2. I want to do a night course to keep me occupied. Drawing or pottery or something like that- just a hobby. Do I need to declare it and will I lose my dole?

    Thanks

Your payment should stay in the post office for 3 days. If you don't think you will be there to pick it up, you should inform your hatch who will suspend your payment until you are back to collect it.

You will need to declare the night course, and will probably have to provide a letter stating the hours it is on. Once it is an evening course you won't lose the dole.

I'm so confused. I went on Wednesday (3rd March) to collect my payment and I asked the girl in the post office to double check how many days it stays there. She said "this payment is from Thurs 26th Feb to 3rd March so today was the last day you could have collected it".
So it seems that my payments stay in from Thursday to the following Wednesday (5 working days) and I get a new payment every Thursday.
I had been under the impression that my payment day was every Wednesday.

    What payment are you claiming?
