WE 1911 Manual Safety Catch Problem

    Hey Folks

Decided to give the 1911 a new lick of paint when re-assembling it I forgot to install the small cylinder spring in between the slide release and manual safety. So went to push the safety catch all the way up in order to remove it but it will barely move past the 10 O’clock position making removal impossible. Also the hammer is no longer cocking when depressed. Has this happened to anyone here? Any advice on how to alleviate the situation?

    Pics attached

    Cheers

If you pop off the housing at the back of the pistol grip, and pop off the grips you should be able to remove the safety catch without difficulty
