Royal Canal Advice

Hello, I was hoping to get some advice. I used to do quite a bit of coarse fishing with my uncle when I was younger and am very keen to get back into it. I have recently got some new gear and plan to fish the Royal Canal. I have done some research and was thinking of going fishing around the Lucan/Leixlip area or maybe further up towards Mullingar I'm interested in perch, roach, tench, bream etc....

I was wondering is this a good area to coarse fish? What tackle/bait would you recommend? Are there any specific spots in this area I should visit? Is this a good time of year (March)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
