I know this is a more generic question but stuck it here seeing as it is for Mario Kart Wii, MODs can you move it if it is in the wrong place please, thanks.

Anyhow, I have a scratched disc that can be read on by the console but when I go to start the game it displays an error to the screen.

Has anyone here used the likes of the JML Disc Clinic to get a disc back to working order? Or am I fighting a losing battle?

Pea sized amount of toothpaste on a sock.

Rub scratch from centre out and back again (Not around the way the disc reads)

Clean/dry disc and then try it in your Wii.

Repeat until it works! (Can take a while dependant on how bad the scratch is..you're basically using the toothpaste as an abrasive to rub the scratch off. )

If you're too lazy then just take it to a shop like Gamestop to have it resurfaced. Which pretty much does the same thing as the toothpaste.

Next time go to GameStop and buy Game Protection when you're buying a game and they'll replace the disc for you if you scratch it. :P
