Are you allowed to adjust your mirrors during the test ie: I like them one way when I'm driving, so I can see whats on either side of me, but for some parking and that hideous reversing around the corner I like to adjust and angle them down more.

Someone told me you're not allowed adjust them like that during the test,
    Can anyone clarify

Definitely are allowed move them during the test, I moved my passenger mirror down to view the ground/kerb during the reverse manoeuvre.

As donegalfella said though, be sure to move them back afterwards or you will get marked on it for every time to fail to notice because you should be looking in them.

I find it almost impossible to do the reverse maneuver without changing the mirrors. But as my driving instructor and the guys above pointed out, you've gotta make sure to get the mirrors back to normal once you've completed the maneuver or else you'll be faulted every time you need to look in that mirror...

Yes it's fine, as long as you adjust them back.

I wish I could do it in my car. My car is a '98 and the wing mirrors are manual, meaning to adjust the left one you actually have to be in the passenger seat, and I don't think the tester would appreciate being asked to adjust it for me :p
