My aeropress just arrived this morning.

Man that thing makes a damn good coffee.
    Anyone else got one?

yeah, find it very good, dead handy for travelling. also have a handpresso which is nice, but only makes single shot, sometimes you just need more :)

Would it be possible to get one somewhere in Dublin (in person) ?

Coffeeangel sell them. If you goto the bridge by Customs House Quay you'll see one of their mobile coffee units.

3fe in Twisted Pepper sell them with a free bag of hasbean coffee for 35 euro i think, maybe less. They'll even give you a demonstration of how to use it. They are really great, much quicker, tastier and cleaner than a french press. I'm kinda pissed that my new Gaggia MM can't grind anything coarse enough for it. It has nine settings and they are all really fine. It still tastes great, but I was used to the easy pressing from a coarser grind.

What about Insomnia, do they sell Aeropress too? I'm asking as google maps leads me to Insomnia cafe nearby Trinity College.

Doubt Insomnia would do anything towards the higher quality coffee market.
    Try http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=3871969432272672450&hl=en&authuser=0&cad=src:ppiwlink&ei=dtCzTryIHord8gOL3vjmAQ&dtab=2 for Coffee Angel
    Or either 3fe http://www.yelp.ie/biz/3fe-dublin or http://www.yelp.ie/biz/third-floor-espresso-dublin

Just ordered an aeropress and am going to order a starter pack off hasbean to try some different blends out. What type of grind should I order? There's no aeropress option, so would espresso grind be my best bet?

Also, if I was looking at getting a Hario hand grinder, would it be able to grind fine enough for an aeropress?

    Cheers

Use the "Filter option". Most of the instructions say that you should have it slightly finer or coarser than a filter brew. My Gaggia MM can only grind pretty fine coffee, even at the highest setting. It is much more difficult to press than when I was doing a coarser ground with my hand grinder, but I find the taste to be pretty much the same.

Filter will be way too course. I'd go for the espresso grind personally.

How strong is the coffee with an aeropress?
Would you be pouring a 2oz shot or more like a large cup of filter coffee?

You make a shot, if you want a full cup you can dilute Americano style.

Is it the same for a french press? Was thinking of getting one of those Bodum travel presses for work, but after reading this thread I'm intrigued by the Aeropress!

Pick up an Aeropress, its a lot easier to clean and takes less time to brew.
I'm using a filter grind with this at the mo http://www.hasbean.co.uk/products/Coava-Aeropress-Disk.html

Makes very smooth coffee with a bit of body. It normally makes just a bit less than a mug full, top it up with water and it evens out the extra body.
It also removes the extra space needed to store filters.

With the french press, you don't make a shot and then dilute, you put in as much water as you will actually drink.

Did you notice much of a taste difference in comparison to the paper filters? I was thinking of getting that filter with my next order from hasbean.

Yeah its a lot different. You're getting more oils in the final product that would normally dissipate into the paper, but the pay off is you do get a bit more larger solids in the cup.
Its nice not having to rinse the papers before use as well.

Rather than getting an Aeropress instead of a FP, I'd get both. You can pick up a decent FP in Tesco for about €7. Some coffees taste better in the FP - it depends.
