    OK,
I have read a lot of the treads and my head is a mess.
What is the Current state of Play?
I am currently on 3 using the old E220 modem, I do not think the service is very good, I am based in Mallow in Cork. The modem tends to flake out from time to time. I now have a PC with windows 7 64bit, which is not supported. So I need a new modem.

I was thinking of moving to Vodafone.
Is there any general consensus out of the three main providers which is Currently the best? Vodafone, 3 or O2.
Also, I would like to confirm this, if I have a poor broadband speed (with a 3.6mb modem) there is no advantage get a 7.2 rated modem, correct?
For example, if there is only so much water coming from the tap, it's no advantage having a bigger tap!!!

It doesn't matter which one people think is best, all that matters is which one works for you. Only you can answer that question.

7.2Mbps is available in some areas, but not all. The E220 will operate at 7.2Mbps with a firmware update, and it also works with Windows 7 x64, you just need the right drivers.

    jor el,
Thanks i checked out the stickes, i was just wondering if from a technical side of things which has better coverage.

In the end i have signed up for Eircom as i don't want to spend time testing Vodafone and O2.

    Thanks for your post.

For consistancy - none -Eircom as expensive as it is -is the most relaible for gaming and downloading. Wireless products have a nasty habit of failing when it comes to consistant speeds and pings. Id recomment DSL or cable/fibre anyday over these products

Due to technical limitations none of them is "best" they all suffer from the same issues that is (in short) the only way to control contention is to refuse connections and then cell breathing means ppl who could get service can suddenly no longer get service.
