Would you keep playing it? I have heard of people who have kept playing even though they won in the lotto millions, and people already very wealthy playing it.
How much money do people need.Does it make them greedier.

Personally i wouldn't play if i won or was already wealthy.I find it greedy and miserable

This thread is down to Bertie's undeserved win.

No. I'd be rich now, so like other rich people I would not continue paying tax.

OP it was a LOCAL lotto and yes, if I was a millionaire I would still support my LOCAL fundraisers.

Ask yourself this question: What would Bertie do?

Which would bring you to the answer. Yes, keep playing.

Whats wealthy though? I hate when people begrudge lotto winners who are already 'wealthy', who cares? OP, I'm sure some people, who are not as well off as you, would consider you "too wealthy" to win the lotto.

No silver spoon to suck here unfortunately!

Ok, so should have pointed that question directly at you, but I've heard the argument before and people begrudging wealthy people winning large sums of money. But then wealth is all relative so theres generally gonna be someone worse off and better off than you no matter what level of 'richness' you're at.

Depends on how much the win was.

If it was a gigantic one: no, I'd stop playing.

to be fair ...10K in a local lotto is a decent amount of money .... on a national/international scale...its not attractive as a top prize.

I say if people are willing to put money into a lotto (local/national or international) ...then so what if they win - they have probably invested a fair amount of cash over the years and just because they get a fraction of it back in a lump sum people get upset.

Yes - we would all like to see the rags to riches story ...of someone who was just an "ordinary joe" does the lotto and wins - majority of the time in this country its syndicates as theres a better chance you'll hit the big prize and at least share in the winnings.

There was some woman in NJ (in the US) that won it, kept playing, won it AGAIN the next year, and is now broke and lives in a trailer. So all the luck in the world won't help you if you're sh*te with money.

Don't know if you have a local lotto?

I do, it's a local gaa lotto, proceeds go towards training kids and playing matches etc. It's something that really benefits my community. Almost everyone (barring visitors) that buys a lotto ticket is already reaping the rewards of a well run club for the parish.

So (almost) everyone is supporting the club by buying the tickets and to be in with a chance of winning a nice little lump sum. :p

I think most people play it, not because they think they will win, but because they like the little thrill of knowing that they might.

    It's all about hope.

CALGARY - It will be up to the courts to decide if a Calgary-area man's amazing run of lotto luck will continue.

Seguro Ndabene of Airdrie, just north of Calgary, has already won the lottery four times in the past five years -- including two wins of $1 million and another of $100 thousand.
But his biggest win of all -- $17 million in a Super 7 draw back in January -- is being disputed.
According to court documents, Ndabene's claim as sole winner is being questioned by a man who alleges the winning ticket was part of a group's purchase and he wants a share. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation attempted to sort out the complicated case.
But it ended up asking the Court of Queen's Bench to make the final decision on who gets the cash.

Wouldn't the decent thing to do, be to keep playing so your still contributing to all the worthy causes that get funding from the national lottery.

no i'd move onto different, more lucrative forms of gambling such as investment in shares/property whatever is cheap at the time.

or pump loads of money into solar power stations and oil speculation before the impending energy crisis

Playing lotto can be very useful; it is a very good way to make fast money. At the same time not everyone can win a lottery. It is very important to have knowledge about the special techniques which will help you in succeeding. Internet is the best place to search for such software which will help to win a lottery.

Thank you for bringing up a year old thread to point out the obvious.

I'm not too sure but I think there's something like an 8,000,000 to 1 chance of winning the lotto, so imagine your chances of winning the lotte a second time. I mean most people spend their whole lives buying lotto tickets but never winning. So yeah I definetely wouldn't continue buying lotto tickets. Although then again I don't actually buy lotto tickets anyway because I think so it dosen't really make a difference but that's what I think anyway.
