    Hi all

apologies if this belongs somewhere else. I have been very interested in starting up my own Bridal Shop. After spending a year organising my own wedding I came across some gaps in the market and have been thinking of it since then.

However I know absolutely nothing about where to even start, so any advice that anyone could give would be very much appreciated!

One word research! You will need to figure out who to buy stock from, How much it will cost, how much you can sell it for. How much rent will cost? Shop fit out costs? Advertising and marketing costs?

While you are doing all this research document it and it will become the foundation of your business plan.

    Thanks a million :)

Was wondering if anyone else in the Bridal end of things could give me any advise as well?

    Thanks again!

Might be worth getting in touch with your local Enterprise Board - http://www.enterpriseboards.ie/. Most Enterprise Boards run start your own business courses which give you a good basis for most aspects of business.

Also, u could look into renting a industrial unit instead of a shop. Small business park I work in has a wedding invitations unit and a bridal unit. They're both very popular and get business 6 days a week(I work in the same unit as the wedding invitations place)... Its kinda becoming a one stop shop for your weddings...

If you really think this is a good business for you, I suggest you consider acquiring an existing business with existing goodwill and trade. It might sound like an expensive option, but it could get you off to a much quicker start.

That's a great idea I never thought of that. Definitely worth looking into anyway, thanks!
