Buy some sunglasses. A lot of people driving with their faces screwed up like they are sucking a lemon sherbet, wrestling with their sunvisors or using their hand as one. Fair play to RTE 1 for telling people to wear sunglasses, never heard that before. Polaroid make affordable sunglasses that cut out glare.

Even with sunglasses and the visor down the sun can be so strong to still be blinding, especially in the early morning at this time of year

Right, well still wear them, better than none. I guess if it's too strong, adjust your speed accordingly.

+1 for polarising lenses, they make a world of difference and are definately worth the €30 or so.

I'd be half blind driving without sunglasses. Occasionally I do find myself driving through a tunnel wondering how in the hell it is so dark for the few seconds it takes to cop on and remove glasses :o

Is it safer for me to try and change from my glasses to my sunglasses while driving, then back again when the sun goes in, or should I squint a bit and avoid those few seconds where I'm not wearing glasses so I'm blind as a bat?

Get UV reactions lenses. Although they take quite a few seconds to darken.

clean your windscreen inside and out....surprising what a difference that makes.... and if you are too short for the sunvisors...get a pillow!
