Good surfing holiday in Europe?

    Hi,

I'm thinking of going on a surfing holiday this summer in Europe somewhere. I went to Peniche in Portugal 3 years ago and did a week long course, which was great, but am thinking of going somewhere different this year. I've surfed a little bit off and on in Sligo and England, since Portugal, so am no longer a complete beginner, but still have plenty of room for improvement.
So, can anyone recommend locations, that have good surf, that aren't a million miles away from the airports, and that there is a good buzz/nightlife around!? Peniche was beautiful but was a bit dead. I'm in my late 20s.

I was thinking maybe Portugal or Canaries...

    Thanks:)

    Sin,

There's a couple of good threads in the surf section:http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055425178&page=4

Here's a copy of my 2 cents from the thread: I went on a solo trip to Lagos last year with those guys www.surfholidays.com. Stayed in the surf house - basically a house that sleeps about 15 in the centre of town.
Its a cool town (actually a city but not sure why cos its all cobblestone streets).
Ther's no surf in the actual town - they take you out every morning in the jeeps and go to the best surf beaches based on conditions -
usually 20-40 minutes. Its a mixture of beginners getting lessons and for others taken out back to the green waves. Spent all day on the beach for a week surfing - got some really quality waves.

They take you back, you go for a quick powerkip and then out for a few beers. Its a kicking town, loads of bars and that cool vibe of walking up and down the old town at night in and out of bars with a beer in your hand.Sweet.
