There are 2 holes (10th and 11th) that are alongside the Liffey and are really the only low lying holes on the course so id imagine any excess flooding would happen there.
I havnt played it in a few months tho so I wouldnt be able to give you an insight as to what the condition is currently like. Best thing to do is ring the pro shop and ask.

By the way, if you do play, get a BLT in the clubhouse - awesome. Equally awesome are the toasted ham and cheese sambos across the road in the fox hunter pub.

Well said. Knowing you've got quality food in the clubhouse can ease the tension, especially when it's all square on the 18th, the tummy is asking questions and the smell of food is tickling your nose hair......

Played Hermitage today. Tee-off delayed until 10am,5 temp greens in play. Really enjoyed my first time here, great weather, fairways were excellent and the greens in play were excellent. Will be back in the summer! Only 18 euro today on teetimes! :)

Were the 5 greens temps because of frost or rain?

Played the hermitage not long back and I have to say I thought the course was poor.

Most of my course reviews are kind but in this case I felt the course was a big letdown. For a start the holes in many places are on top of each other the 6th green for example had another green right beside it and two tee boxes right beside them too. One of the par 3’s had a temporary green, total mickey mouse job, about 50 yards long, you get better holes on the Elmgreen pitch and putt. You could tell a few of the greens had been recently sanded so I wouldn’t pass judgment on those but a few of the others that appeared to be normal were poor to putt. I played off the whites and found the course short. I’d say some of the big hitters must be driving a fair few of the par 4’s on a regular basis.

The one thing that stood to the course were some of the tee shots the 10th hole with the tee box up very high and few of the others. The start of the back nine is good, 10th as mentioned, 11th are strong holes but their seldom and few and far between.

To be fair I will go out of my way to play it again at some point in the summer if I get a decent deal on teetimes or in a open but my initial impressions are that there’s lots of better courses around.

Hi jimjo, a little harsh there I would think. There are some great holes, yes 10 and 11 especially as you mentioned but 2 is a cracker as well as 9 I think. I've never felt that the holes were on top of one another. The greens are generally very good but I haven't played there recently.

Maybe I am being a little harsh, I think my expectations were far to high going to the place. One thing I will say is that the course wasn't in good nick when I played. However I will play there again in the summer, should be in better condition then.

One of my favourite old style parkland in the country, the greens are usualy in great condition.

I think 10 is a great fun hole, but 11 is one of the best par 5's in the country, looks great and needs 3 very good well thought shots to have a birdie chance

Jeff Howes is rebuilding the 4th Green, Played there last friday (a nice 39 pts) and it was in good shape, considering how the weather has been I was suprised.

We did some visualisation work for them recently, they were considering putting in american style cart paths

Love the fact Links 2003 was used.

Awesome game. Shame there are no more Links games, the course editor was a suberb feature too. Remember I made the likes of Portmarnock, Carton Hourse and even Corballis. Was so into it :pac:

Links is still very much alive, the last version 1.07 upgraded the game to 1024 texture and widescreen support, plus new animations.

Truly excellent work mate, a lot of time and effort must have been put in. Really like the love of Portmarnock Hotel & Links.

Still have Links 2003 at home, will certainly re-install it by next weekend hopefully.

Is the Links 2003 online community still going? Remember it was was very quiet around the time Links was released on the Xbox and that's when my interest went.
