Stock and shipping management for online sales

Hi there,
I was wondering what the best way is to get set up in order to sell bulky items online or via ebay, in terms of shipping the goods out to customers.

I got a quote from DHL but their prices are ridiculous...€400+ for a shipment from Dublin to Berlin as an example.

I found a site called shiply.com where you can utilise free van space and their quotes seem to be a lot more reasonable, but it means dealing with man with a van type set ups so it'd probably require a lot more coordination for each delivery and they may not be as reliable.

Are there any companies that will provide a good service for getting bulky items shipped out to customers across Europe, that won't cost a fortune?

Hello Cianos,

I believe there are far more cost effective solutions out there and they vary from the likes of DPD (Deutsche Pakket Dienst) to GLS. They are essentially surface / road based distribution / courier services with wide European Networks.

Appreciate that at the start it may be difficult to indicate the anticipated volume(s), but perhaps you can PM me with the length x width x height of the package(s) and the weight. Would be happy to check the various options I know in order to get you a better result.

Also, if you require warehousing / stock management services, I can do a review on that aspect. I know there is already a Boardsie (BarryM3) that provides these types of services and I can recommend him as a good operation. But there may be other solutions, depending on your needs we can look at what is out there.
