    Hey All,

I failed my NCT today on a leaky exhaust and my emissions were too high. I was told if the leaky exhuast was repaired or replaced it could sort the emissions. I'm confused it the exhaust is leaking should emissions be lower? I'm driving a 98 Ford fiesta and obviously dont want to spend too much money fixing it. Any Tips??? Thanks.

A leak in the exhaust will affect your emissions. It would give you a high lambda reading!

You'd have to get an emission test done after you fix the exhaust to be sure if it is the only cause of the emission problem.

Yes you will need to get emissions done again once exhaust is fitted, pickup a decent second hand exhaust for around 40-60 euro and away you go.
