I was looking at buying TRvs from the Uk for the price difference. Can these be used here in Ireland?

Yes, they will be metric, so are 15mm as opposed to our 1/2". The differance is about .7mm. The fitting will still compress on to Irish copper. It only becomes an issue as pipe sizes increase, the ratio in size differance also increases.

True... Most plumbers will prefere to change the nut and ring to an imperial nut and ring. If you go to some plumbers providers you can buy chrome imperial nuts and rings now obv the ring is not chrome.

Excel industries in coolmine bring them in. If you call them they will give you the nearest agent.

This should make life a dream for the fitter.

The last time I bought TRV valves they were 15mm, I just swapped the 15mm metric olives for some 1/2" (14.7mm) ones and this worked a dream. The 15mm olives left over are handy if fitting some types of monobloc kitchen mixers, which invariably are fitted with metric tails.

A couple of times I've found myself using turbo torch to heat metric copper to soften it up then lightly tap on an Irish fitting, works for emergency, its not ideal as once copper is softened it stays soft. Another trick is to heat metric copper pipe until soft, tap on Irish fitting then solder around pipe and fitting, better joint than compression, solder takes to brass same as copper.
