Water Mains Leak - how to locate it

As the title suggests, we have a mains water leak somewhere on our site, it definitely goes back to when the water was connected. To cut a long story short the builder has now carried out a pressure guage test and finally accepts that we have a leak. He can't remember exactly where the mains come into the house. So far we have 3 holes in the gravel driveway and still no sign of the pipe ! Someone suggested to me that the water depts of the councils use a listening device to detect leaks. House is based in North wexford area, any suggestions would be very very welcome at this stage .Thankfully the Builder is behaving very well and has told me that whatever is required will be done to remedy this.

Just a quick update, guy with listening device eventually found the source of the leak, like watching paint drying, he inched and i mean inched along the route of the pipe. Would stop every so often and announce a car was approaching, about 20 seconds later the car would pass by house ! Leak is on the edge of the the path that goes right around the house, builder reckons when he was putting in the shuttering for the path, he used a crow bar to pilot the holes of the stakes, and he thinks thats how he nicked the pipe.

Thankfully it can be sorted now, so glad we have a gravel driveway and not concrete or tarmac, no patchwrok quilt when holes are filled in !
