Can anyone here clarify what powers gardai have in relation to inspecting or confiscating private property (a camera for instance) without a warrant?

    Cheers!

May you elaborate on the circumstances?

Gardai have hundreds of powers relating to seizing things so you would need to tell us more.

The Criminal Law Act for example - gives power to seize anything that is or is suspected to be connected with criminal offences for evidence.

I had a post written and all but on second thoughts, knowing this forum, I'll just get people jumping down my throat for no reason on a topic like this. This was just a general question, nothing to do with me or anyone I know.

I'll seek my answers somewhere else. Might be more suited to AH. Mods can close the thread.
