Palevo Worm

I detected a Palevo worm the other day and with me not exactly knowing an awful lot about computers, I'm wondering what my next move should be.

I'm using the free Avira anti virus software.

When my anti virus found it, it asked me what I wanted to do, so I quarantined it.
Just wondering, if I delete it from quarantine, does that mean that it is still on my pc?
Do I need to uprgrade my anti-virus software or what?

Any help on the subject would be appreciated.
