Just finished watching it.. and what a massive, massive disappointment! :(

I had massive hopes for this since [Rec] was probably my favourite horror in recent years and I heard, while not as mindblowing as the original, the sequel was still an entertaining and innovative little horror (plenty of positive reviews).

It was a huge letdown. It's like Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza sat down and thought let's takes inspiration (or downright rip-off) a lot of other successful horror movies. We'll take a good chunk of 'Aliens' and throw in a bit of 'The Exorcist' for good measures, add in an pointless segway mid-way through with idiotic teenagers and all while retaining absolutely none of what made the original great.

Am really gutted as I really expected good things!

PS - and what annoys me most was ** SPOILER **
knowing what became of Angela has ruined that superb closing shot of [Rec] for me!

Thought the first was way over rated, however I looked at this the other night after hearing good things about it. I really enjoyed it, totally different from the first one. hink the Aliens and Exorcist analogy is spot on, but for me that was a good thing. There are some nice action set pieces and I think the story is better for vearing away from the done to death zombie thing. It does lag abit in the middle when the annoying teenagers show up but there is one coll bit with a firework.
All in all I'd recommend it. If you like Aliens, zombies, The Evil Dead , zombie kiddie murdering and appartments with over sized halls you should like rec2.

I enjoyed the 1st film myself, though it had some cliched moments it was still one of the best horror films in recent years.

I''ve been thinking of watching this for a while now but ever since I heard of the stupid sub-plot with the teens ages ago I don't know if I want to ruin the memory.

Though I might watch it just to see the sex kitten that is Manuela Velasco again

Watched it a few months back and really did enjoy it. I went in with low expectations as I had heard some negative comments from people I trust. It's very much the big action sequel, replacing the taut scares of the original with lots of action which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The worst thing they could have done is simply remake the original with a new cast.

    You're right.. that'd never work! ;)

I really enjoyed Quarantine, the extended running time allowed for a little more character development.

    Given the heavy focus on
    religion
in Rec2 I wonder how they will address it in Quarantine 2 (if there is one) seeing as they only glossed over it in the first one.
