Howth peninsula cliff run distance

    Folks,

quick question. Ran the Howth pennisula today from the car park right long the cliffs to point where I could not go further and turned back? Anyone know the distance along the pininsula. I believe if you are on the higher path you can go all the way but on lower path along edge you come to and point where you must return.

Reason I ask is that I am trying to gauge how far I ran.

    thanks.

Use mapmyrun. You can work it out yourself

thanks Peter. Was on there last night but could not gauge the point where I had to turn back? I know the path ended and was leading into the sea?

the only points i can think of were the path ends are at the lighthouse and down near the Martello tower where you have to run on the beach for a minute.

I'm not familiar with that run but it may help if you change to the sat view, it might make more sense when you are looking at that instead of the map....

Although I've never run it, the path from Red Rock to Balscadden is, more or less, continuous. As posted earlier, at Bellingham Harbour you're on the beach, but just for one minute. At one point, between Bellingham and Red Rock, you'll be scrambling, using hands, and feet, more than running.

Has any one with a garmin ran up from harbour to summit pub along the road? I'm trying to find out what gradient it is. Thanks

This should help a bit, although the road after Balscadden to the top is steeper I believe. Nicer route than the main road I found: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/25176461
