    Hi!
I am currently undergoing a Bachelor of Arts in Law in an IT (FIRST YEAR).
I love my course and my core law subjects are Land and Contract.
my question is.... I have been taking a look at Civil Law at NUIG and it sounds really appealing, also I LOVE Galway . Is it possible to transfer into second year of this course in sept providing my grades are good. if so what is the process, I imagine its quite complicated.

any comments regarding the above welcome, thanks! :)

    Hi,

I recently graduated from the BCL in Galway and glad to hear you like the sound of it! Unfortunately I don't think it would be possible for you to transfer. In first year, the core subjects are Constitutional, Tort, Contract, Public Law and one more as far as I can remember! Also, Land is taken in final year so you would only have one subject done if you were to transfer.

If you decided to transfer you basically would have to start the course again which would mean reapplying through the CAO and paying fees for a year :(

If your degree is a qualifying law degree (inc. the core subjects- Tort, Constitutional, Contract, EC, Company, Criminal, Equity, Land) then basically it's pointless transferring to the BCL. If on the other hand it's not, then I'd recommend finishing off your degree and going to Galway for the LLB. The LLB is a one year course or it may be more depending on how many core subjects you've already covered. It's a part-time course which means you can work (or go on the dole) and the social life is fantastic!

Best of luck with your studies!
