    Hi

Just wondering if it's possible to unlock an excel file from a server. a domain user currently has the file open(excel). I have admin rights to the server. is there any way i can kick the user off. I dont need the user's changes as it is unlikely that he would have made any changes to the file.

    Thanks in advance.

Potentially open the file and save it as a copy. Use the copy.

    Windows 2003 Server?

Admin Tools \File Server management ->
Share Folder Management \ Shared Folders \ Open Files

Find the open file , right click and 'close open file'.

yep - what he said - or right click my computer on server, go to manage, shared folders, open files, right click and disconnect
