hi all. toying with the idea of setting up a site. im guessing some of the site owners out there visit this forum so i was hoping you'd help.
i assume i'd need to contact the council and coppers but i'd like to know more about this first.

    cheers

I am not a site owner, but the first thing you need to sort out is Insurance. Once you have insurance, you can then show the Gardaí and the council that it is feasable. Then sort it out with the IAA (Irtish Airsoft Association) so that you can have some support if there is any red tape.

Insurance is not the first thing.

    Basic steps are:
    1) Find possible venues in the area you would like to open a site
    2) Contact the landowners to see if they are intereseted in a business venture
    3) Conduct market research to see how viable opening an airsoft site in that area is
    4) Providing all that is done, and the landowner agrees, so you're going to open a site (but no construction and no money has exchanged hands), you then would go to the Gardaí and the Council, explain what it is you're hoping to do, and you could even enquire about the possibility of a grant (if it's a community project).

    1) Market research, is it feasible.
    2) Business plan.
    3) Locate site.
    4) Insurance quote.
    5) Liason with authorities.
6)Hand no money over, till you can be sure that neither the council permission, Gardai permission or insurance will stiff you. You need all 3 for a site.
    7) Health and safety statement.
    8) Emergency plans.
    9) Onsite facilities ( toilet, 1st aid, canteen, parking etc )
    10) The dozen or so small jobs to facilitate your site.

If you prefer to talk in person, I'm able to help. Have first hand experience of doing all of the above.

Edit: If the location is an indoor site Planning permission will have to be sought for the "Change of use".
Plus you'll need a new fire certificate amongst others.

    Good luck.
