hi all, is there anywhere i could get tuition or a little bit of training in the use of my .243, i just got it 3 weeks ago and i have fired it twice, both times i missed by a mile, now i got it zeroed by a lad who really knows his stuff so unfortunately i know that the blame lies with me,
i would just like a bit of advice and for someone to maybe to show me what i am doing wrong,- i don't have hundreds to spare to join a rifle club, are there any rifle ranges i could to get a bit of target practice in? i'm in cork.

fermoy would be your nearest range, i dont know how much if anything they would show you without joining though, surely someone on here would be willing to give you a few tips.

    best of luck with it

Is this your first rifle or firearm? If so, you chose a bloody expensive way to learn! Okay, the thing to remember about practical marksmanship is to put the sights pointing at the target, then keep them there while pulling the trigger carefully. You should be able to balance a coin on the end of your barrel and not disturb it while dry-firing. What you want to do now is to spend a half an hour a day dry-firing. This means putting some spent brass or a snap cap in your chamber, cocking the rifle and pointing it at a target and practising shooting it. When you can hold the rifle on target and pull the trigger without it moving, then you should be fine to shoot live ammo.

As IWM says above and try this also. Line up the rifle with the target then close your eyes, breath in and out a couple of times, open your eyes and see where the sights are pointing. Then adjust your body position to bring the sights on target. There is a tendency to relax as you squeeze the trigger so try to 'follow through' and the sights should settle back on target after the shot.

The offer of practice with the .22lr is one I would grab with both hands.

practice practice and more practice, its the only way. i will help you if you want. i'm in clonmel but i dont mind a spin if it means helping out a fellow shooter.

i would suggest practice with a .22lr which i have, i also have a .223 and a 6.5x55 but for smile value the .22lr has it

pm me if you want some help, if not then best of luck with practice:)
