Apologies guys, posted this query on the general forum, but decided to move it here. :o

Just have a quick question for you all.
I am in the market for a new iPhone, as my old one was stolen. mad.gif
I have been searching the net for second hand iPhones, and have seen some that are the "chinese version" iPhone. Judging from the pictures, they are in fact iPhones.

Has anyone had any experiences with the chinese version of the iPhone, good, bad or indifferent.

    I need my iPhone fix...

    Thanks in advance.

If you want an iphone looking piece of crap paperweight, they're excellent.

these are not iphones. they're cheap knockoffs.

    avoid.

No - they're not iPhones. :D They do nothing but make it very difficult to send texts or make calls from two sim cards. I played with a few in Beijing, and they're all basically the same awful system. I got myself a NCKIA N85+ for kicks, but at least it's also got a tv and aerial!

I know there are some cheap and surprisingly useful Chinese electronic products out there - but you're not going to find them unless you ARE Chinese, so don't bother. :D

There are the iClones, which are, as you might have guessed, iPhone like handsets that attempt to mimic the functionality of the iPhone and then there is the Apple iPhone that was released in China. The thing with the Chinese iPhone is that it lacks Wi-Fi, due to Chinese wireless restrictions. Either way, you're betting off sourcing an iPhone closer to home; that is, if you're from Ireland.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

    baller phone = baller price

if you've got an alternative that is super cheap it will be because it's super shít

There is no such thing as a cheap Iphone! If IRS cheap it's a fake because if it was legit, the seller would be looking for the second hand Market value!

They are pure $hit. I bought one and had it back up on ebay within an hour.

Have a look on adverts for second hand iphones, the prices are falling all the time. If you're going down the ebay road I would restrict to irish/uk sellers and check out the ad and feedback very carefully.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.
It's kind of what I suspected, but I needed that extra bit of info before making my final decision.

If anyone here has an iPhone they can imagine how shi* it may be to have one stolen!
The thoughts of some weirdo having access to all my personal information, photos etc...

And if you do have an iPhone please get insurance, it will be worth it. Trust me!
