Open Areas for Dogs

I was just wondering if anyone knows of some good running areas or tracks to bring dogs for a safe walk! I live in Athlone, but I know there's a forested area just outside Roscommon and Lough Kee in Boyle, but that's a bit far to just walk a dog!

I thought I'd put this in the Midlands forum, but since it's dog related, I thought I'd put it in here!
