I went to see the crazies yesterday during the day and my enjoyment of the movie was spoiled by this group of young fellows 17/18 who wouldnt stop talking/laughing and joking, I got so pissed off that I turned around to them and asked them to shut the f--- up, while they stayed quite for a few mins they started again, I felt like turning around graping one of them by the scruf of the neck and beating the living **** of him, anyway I just bit my lip and put up with it, there were random checks by staff, but I think it should be policy for cinemas to have a member of staff sit in the cinema throughout the whole movie, has anyone else experienced this, what have ye done?

I don't know what the staffing level is like (I imagine at peak time it might be difficult), but it should be doable off-peak at any rate. The problem is getting a bunch of kids to do that without direct supervision.

I hate people talking at movies.

Speak to a manager, and ask for the offending people to be ejected, or ask for your money back. The cinemas don't really care if you've had a good time or not, so if you're just going to sit there and put up with disruptive eejits, the cinema has still made their money. If you're demanding your money back because you couldn't watch the film in peace, they'll take note because it effects their profits. If more people demanded that the staff either deal with disruptive people or give them a refund, they'd be more vigilant against it.

I've never seen this done but, come to think of it, it really should be done. I mean, legally, it's probably required. I work in a theatre and we have ushers supervising the auditorium at all times. Anything can happen in a dark, windowless room: Having someone continuously surverying the area not only ensures the enjoyment of patrons and high quality service, it also ensures that any accidents, injuries, medical issues that may possibly arise on scene be dealt with swiftly and professionally. Might be worth writing some letters...

Worked in a cinema years back, used to do fairly regular screenchecks, bout 4 times a movie if it was busy, once or twice if it was a quiet showing, never really had much trouble aside from a scobes at the weekends, they'd usually shut up once they had a flashlight shone in their face though

Depends on the staffing levels and how busy the cinema is. If you have to get up to complain during the film and not at the end really. But to compare it to a theatre is a bit niave, You wont have 10 staff sitting in each screen unless there is a genuine disturbance reported or found. Its annoying but unavoidable at times but with groups of teenagers/kids they usually act up at the start so if no one is doing anything about them then if your unhappy go see a member of staff.

but I think it should be policy for cinemas to have a member of staff sit in the cinema throughout the whole movie,

I'm a supervisor in a cinema, of which have 8 screens. Do you suggest hiring 8 people to watch a film all day?

In the cinema I work in if it's reported to me I personally would make it my business to assure that noise is at minimum.

I get people complaining at the end of a film about this, unfortunately if we are not aware of it, we can't do anything about it. I've kicked people out of films before a film has even started because of disruption during trailers.

I've also thrown people out when I am in watching a film with my girlfriend. (whille im not working of course)

I do share your point more should be done about noise but unfortunately it's difficult to monitor 8 screens all the time. If you do have a concern raise it with the staff (more particularly a supervisor/manager) you're paying good money to see the film.

Depends on the type of cinema to be honest..... If there are multiple cinemas in the county they would want you to come back.
