Future hall-of-famer Ricky Hatton will be working with leading Australian promoter Bill Treacy to co-promote international contests featuring world rated middleweights Daniel Geale and Mathew Macklin as well as a rematch with IBO welterweight champion Lovemore Ndou vs Mathew Hatton.

Treacy said, “The Grange Gym is proud to be working with Ricky to match WBC #6, IBF #5, WBA #11 Mathew Macklin (26-2, 18 KOs) against our middleweight IBF #7, WBC #14, WBA #14 Daniel Geale (22-1, 13 KOs). This fight could be in Sydney as we now have several television dates with Fox Cable Television network in 2010. Mathew Macklin is one of the best 160 pounders in the world but we have confidence in Daniel Geale to more than hold his own with all the top ten contenders. Daniel would also defeat IBF champion Sebastian Sylvester and WBA champion Felix Sturm. He only needs the opportunity. We are also negotiating to bring Ronald “Winky” Wright to Australia for a contest. Winky has been a great champion but we think Daniel Geale can defeat him.”

Mathew Mackilin and Daniel Geale boxed a common opponent in 2008, both outscoring Geard Ajetovic easily on points. Geale lost a disputed split decision to Anthony Mundine in 2009 for the IBO middleweight title. Mundine vacated the title after the IBO ordered a rematch against Geale.

That is strange because I read that he is due to fight Khoren Gevor in Birmingham in April today.

I'd prefer to see the Gevor fight. Australia is a long way to travel for a fight. He would have a nice advantage of fighting in front of his home fans at least against Gevor.
