How has this horrible outdated shite got into our clubbing scene? I mean another banging techno set last night in Twisted Pepper was finished off by Disco. At one point I was expecting to see John Travolta and Disco Stu up the front.

It seams we are back to pleasing the masses :mad:

could have been worse, you could have been stuck listening to me,
RnB, chart and a high brow fatboy slim track to finish off the night.

Nothing about Disco fudge in there. Now I am not familiar with his tunes so im going out on a limb here obviously as I went blind however I'm not just referring to this gig its been happening to much of late in my humble opinion.

I had Erol Alkan's Disco 3000 mix on the other day and was really getting into it. Disco can sound ****ing brilliant if done properly imo

God I love a bit of disco at the end of the night... Its a nice contrast - or maybe I'm a cheese-ball Can't beat a bit of Anita Ward - Ring my Bell, Last night a DJ saved my Life, Donna Summers - I feel love etc.

AFAIK, Bodytonic are fond of a bit of disco, if you're in the Bernard Shaw on a Sunday afternoon it's mainly disco all afternoon, great for a sunday session IMO

Ain't nothing wrong with disco, just remember that disco is the foundation of electronic dance music, so long as ABBA and the likes aren't being played then it's all good.

Giles' mixes are very good. There's a lot of great nu-disco out there and like any genre you have to be your own filter and decide what you like and f*uck what anyone else thinks.

Have to disagree with you there a bit Conor. While the tracks you put up are classics they are not modern (obviously) and sound dated. The tracks that do it for me are those that wouldn't stand out in an up to date house and/or techno set.

Jaysus Jonnny, Conor's knowledge of disco was never disputed, he just prefers disco from the 70's and 80's with real musicians and he prefers that to nu-disco which is the current "fad". We're not discussing lack of knowledge here - just current preference with a nod to John Daly's set in TP.
I never said original disco was better or worse just that I prefer it in the context of sitting well in a modern house/techno set.
