I dont like M14's but they are ugly and have Real Man
Box type Mags. Real Man'ly old school stuff.
So of course I bought another one.

Recently bought the Cyma Branded M14 SOCOM and
was really impressed with the build quality.
Above you can see how the length of it compares
to the standard M14. The Shorter Black SOCOM is a
heavy beasty but most satisfying to fire.

The Flash Hider is much prettier than the standard one,
The paintwork is a powder black finish with is similar to the
phosphated finish you see on real steel firearms. The ABS
fore grip is nicely textured and the quality of it is Rock solid, no creaks or movement.

The Stock is also rock solid and I love the texture on the ABS. Great for using in the rain, your hand will just "meld" to the grips.

The Heat Shield has also got a good texture on it.
I was surprised by this becuase on some other M14's I have seen this is usually a creap crappy piece of plastic that bends and wobbles but this was nice and solid.

The Front there is a rail to mount some bling.
The usualy M14 reciever which I can never undertand
its very ugly looking with stuff that makes your mind
wonder what the heck it that for. The back of the stock
    has that lovely hinge door.

The Fireselector switch is another M14 feature which
I can never undertand. Like just who came up with the
idea of the shape the way it works. Its bizzare.
If you dont turn the fire selector switch all the way in one
direction from Semi to Auto or back again you will have
issues fireing with the gun. And I'm not confident that the
switch stays in the correct position as you run about the place for the day. The cocking lever can be racked and you get the ker-clunk shound, It tends to stick if your gently pull the lever back and let it go forward, you need to pull it back all the way and let go.

I loved the little QC sticker I found when installing the battery, it takes a 9.6mini without any issues.

I never did any accuracy test but it hit what I aimed at.
The Hopup I had forgot to adjust and it made the world
of difference when I dialed it up. In fact the hop up unit
made a lovely little torque like noise when adjusting it.
It was hard to tell how far the BB's were travelling as they were white and it was snowing at the time I was fireing it.

I've only used it once on a days skirmish and 2-3 times dueing the middle of a game I had to walk off the skirmish field due to the gun stopping.

Once or twice the gun just stopped. I had to fiddle with the
fire selector switch going from semi to auto a few times and it started fireing again.

The other strange thing that happened was that it suddenly
felt like the battery had run out, guns slowed down and stopped working. Yet it was a fresh Battery I put into it!!!!
changed battery and it worked away fine, but a bout 2 mags later same thing happened, gun slowed down rate of fire, came to a stop and would not fire. Checked the battery connections and all were nice and tight.
Took gun home and it fired perfectly again with the same battery.

I dont know if this was the Gun or the batteries as I had
just got a new charger and charged all my batteries
(that have only been used a few times)
