    Hi all,

Have my eye on a P90 but have being put off by their tempermental mags which i seen in skirmishes to give problems.
But since the gearbox has being revised a good few times in some brands im still shy to buy one. Classic army is a definate NO:eek:....i spit on them whenever i see one. I was wondering if any one could recommend a brand based on reliabilty. For eg. ACM/gfc.Has anyone had one of them if their any good, do mags jam and break after a while like the classic army....For the record ive seen too many classic army aeg wear and break in a short amount of time and in no way mean any offense to anyone owning a classic army;).

    Thanks in advance...

I heard the TM ones are good, true the mags can be a tad annoying but for an extra bit of cash you can buy the mag conversion kit.

Yeah the TMs are solid and very good range and accuracy considering the size of them, they fire at around 275fps but the standard hopup in them makes all the difference. The ACMs are ment to be very good aswell. Masada has a fairly extensive review of the ACM P90 in the review thread, pics and all of it completely stripped down to the gears as he was trying to confirm who actually made it.

I have never had a mag issue myself, all I use are the 68rd TM mags though.

Cheers for that, tbh ive heard the TM are good too but also heard the acm ver are just as good as TM and the only mods i wanna do to it tightbore, hop up and gearbox bushes, Simply because i want to upgrade it for reliablity and the money spent on the acm and upgrades would be close to the TM ver alone..I was kinda hoping someone had the acm for quite a while and see were they any issues with them. As for the mag coversion kit, i kinda want to keep it original spec. Thanks though for your advice

true your mags might not have jammed but i have seen many do so and then bought the mag conversion kit and the feeding problems totally disappeared

The KS P90 is brilliant, gearbox is solid, metal bushings and XYT gears, nicely shimmed and has a metal spring guide. The wiring is pretty good and all connections are solid. The mags are great too, feed perfectly and smoothly.
My only gripe is with the hop, but that can easily be fixed with a Guarder Clear.

Thanks for that, never heard of the make tbh but i'll definatly look them up...I take it its an oversee's order job through a airsoft retailer..?:)

Sorry bit of a fail on my behalf there, the KS P90 is the ACM one.
I never really liked P90's until I got my hands on one of those, unfortunately it was for my mate, but I'm getting one myself when I can. Its worth it for the gearbox alone to be honest.

That review of the ACM P90 by Masada seems to be gone. The review forum seems to have been nuked to 2 pages and the search function for all it's worth won't dig it up. Would have been handy to check out.

I have a TM P90 and i love it, great accuracy mags won't jam once properly maintained, haven't used an acm p90 yet so can't comment on them.

I saw a lad with 11V in the back of his 90, not sure if its needed but he reported no issues with it. Twas the TM one. My mate has one and it really is a beautiful piece, one of the few TMs I'd pay the premium for.

I have been into 2 ACM P90 Gearboxes of late and they come with Brass solid bushings
They were well shimmed and with just the right amount of grease (unlike some)
The overall finish of the internal components was very good
Most AEG imported into this country would benefit from a change of Hop-up but other than that you will get good results leaving it stock
Personally if I was putting in a tightbore I would go longer the standard and fit it inside a shortish silencer, as I think that the long silencers you see on some models are just too long and spoil the overall look/symmetry of the piece
I believe most come with a 9.6v battery

DeBurca's right, most come with a 9.6V battery, ROF is brilliant.

Thanks for that mate, that was really helpful;).Duly noted on the longer tightbore. Sry to add another ques to you DeBurca but how did you find mag feed issues on mid to high cap mags...

Only ever used Mid-caps in mine, never had any problems

    PS
As you are in the Limerick why not give Tony @ Mid West Airsoft a buzz and arrange to meet and as he has 2 versions in stock you could have a first hand look/feel of the P90 in the flesh

I would/did go with the the ACM one over the p90 for a couple of reasons,
the acm has normal bushings whereas the TM uses silly oval shaped ones,
the ACM is more powerful with most of them being around 320fps, and the TM being around 270fps,
the Chinese gears are a lot stronger than the TM ones,
The ACM can take a 9.6 mini without issue bt the TM needs to have the battery modded to get it in,
ACM has a metal upper receiver over the TM plastic one(although the ACM's red dot is sheite)

I had my own acm up at 35 rps on 11.1v lipo, systema motor and the normal gears without any issue.,:)

ps. The tm has a better hopup and barrel, the acm gearbx is usually way too greasy but for the difference in cost you can change the barrel and hopup rubber, reshim it and get a spare battery while still being cheaper than the TM.,:)

Not to mention a few spare mags.

I use 68rd mid caps, ACM ones without any hassle. the 300rd TM and CA mags are known for jamming up but if high's are your thing, pick up some of the ACM ones, i've used those without issue too.

You can get Mag branded 170rounders for the P90 aswell now too.,:)

Sorry now, ye've started to scare me. I'm just after ordering the Classic Army P90. its gonna be my first airsoft gun. what's the problem with it ?:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Leftyflip

The gearboxes are quite frankly artrocious, the gears and pistons strip quite a lot in what I've seen.

They have a horrible dendency to break in various shapes and forms...

    My one was GACK!!

But, a friend has had a Classic Army P90 for over a year now, and has never had a problem with it, so maybe its just luck of the draw?

After getting the acm p90 i was amazed by the performance straight from the box.I was even able to outperform other assault type guns with it. I was gonna use it for a project but i cant now, it is simply too good of kit, i cannot fault it. My mother even loves it. Thats saying enough there as she was mainly an mp5 fan before that....
