G&P Aug Metal Hop-up

    Lads,
I installed a G&P metal hop-up chamber on my Aug, expecting better consistency, i'm getting worse consistency and lower fps.

I've PTFEd the end of the hop-up unit (near the barrel) but I can't figure out where else there could be an air leak. I did notice some minor scraping on the plastic piece beside the hop-up dial which sits into the gear box but i don't see how that would affect it.

Does the position of the hop-up rubber in the chamber affect it much?
    Any ideas?

Is the rubber properly located and is the back plate secure?
Either of those could cause the inconsistencies and loss in fps.

    Back plate is ok.
I think the rubber is properly located, though I can just see a bit of it when I look into the "feed well"

It's not loose in the chamber is it?

    No, seems ok.
How is the seal provided between the nozzle & the barrel? Is at at the mech box or is it between the nozzle & hop-up rubber? I assume the latter.

It's at the nozzle and hop rubber, the nozzle could be damaged, maybe?
It's been ages since I've looked at an AUG so I can't quite remember what everything's like.

EDIT: Isn't there a spring where the barrel goes into the hop unit? That puts pressure onto the chamber to hold it against the mechbox?

Yeah there's a spring there. I'll strip it and start again to see if I can find the problem.
    Thanks for your help.

I had problems with mine where the rear ring wasn't pushing against the GB properly.
