Training Day with Ciaran Power

    Alan Heary and Navan Road Club will be holding a training day with former professional cyclist and Olympian Ciarán Power on Saturday 6th March 2010.

    The venue is Knightsbrook Hotel Spa and Golf Resort, Dublin Road,Trim
    Co. Meath

    This is a great opportunity for you to cycle with and learn from one of Irelands most successful professional cyclists Ciarán Power. This day is aimed at triathletes and cyclists of all levels.

    About Ciarán Power:
    Ciarán Power turned professional in 2000 with the Linda McCartney Racing Team and rode the 2000 Giro d'Italia, gaining 2 top ten stage finishes.
    Ciarán placed 3rd in the 1999 World 'B' road championship, and competed in two Olympic games achieving the highest placing by any Irish cyclist when he finished 13th in the 2004 Summer Olympics road race. He retired from professional racing at the end of the 2008 season.


    About the Training Day:
    The main emphasis of this training day is to work on your cycling skills and techniques. During the 1.5 hour spin on the road with Ciarán, he will show you some specific drills you can use to improve your cycling ability. There will be two groups taken out by Ciarán on the day. The first group is aimed at advanced cyclists who can maintain a pace of 30km an hour for the hour and a half. The second group is aimed at beginners to intermediate level.


    Group 1 suitable for competitive triathletes and cyclists and some junior athletes in 14 to 18 age range. They should be able to maintain an average speed of over 30 km/h for 1.5 hours.

    Group 2 suitable for beginner to intermediate triathletes and cyclists, leisure cyclists and some junior athletes

    Schedule:

    09.00 Registration
    09.30 Training Session on bike
    13.00 Shower in Hotel
    13.45 Sandwich Lunch in Hotel
    14.30 Talk by Ciarán Power covering the skills and techniques from the training session
    15.30 Q and A session
    16.00 Wrap Up

    Time and Date: 09.30 to 4.30pm, Saturday 6th March 2010


    Cost: €40 Seniors and €25 Juniors
    The cost includes use of shower facilities and tea and sandwiches in the Knightsbrook Hotel.
