    Hi,

    Dont know where this goes.
I've recently lost my passport. Im going on holidays in april and i dont have a passport now. It was roughly due to expire about now anyway tho.

! problem, i was born in the UK and my mam lives there with my birth cert. And i cant contact her.

Will i have problems getting a new passport without my old one and without my birth certificate?

    Cheers

    Yes.
You need to contact the UK embassy in Ireland now:

    http://britishembassyinireland.fco.gov.uk/en/

    Note:
Passport applications are normally processed within 10 working days of receipt of a properly-completed application form for which the correct fee has been paid and all supporting documents are included, ie previous passport, birth certificates, proof of identity (driving licence, bank statement, utility bills, school reports, credit union accounts etc.) Incomplete applications will be returned in full and will delay the application process.

If you don't have the correct documentation then you will need to get it.

you can order a copy of your birth cert online from the british home office [you have to pay around £10 I think and they can do rush ones but expect to pay alot more]

you shouldn't need to contact your mom to get a copy of your birth cert. you can do it online.

also, if you have lost your passport you have to go to the police and report it as stolen before you can apply for another.

i'd advise you to do both of these things asap.

i was out in Doran's a week before i moved to Canada and had my passport stolen. next day was a nightmare, completely hungover...passport office sent me to police station to report it, got lost looking for the offices to get my birth cert, passport photos and finally back to the passport office...was so freaked i wouldnt get it in time, but PHEW, i did.

do you still have to report it lost even if it is out of date now anyway?

Yes cus you'll be asked for it when applying for the new one. If it's lost there is a risk [small yes but there] that someone could be using it for fraud so police must be informed and record made so if someone is caught using your passport for fraud you won't get in any trouble.
