What kind of wedding are you looking for? In the UK you can get a registrar to pretty much any location you wish, so weddings are really only limited by expense!

There are some beautiful country houses in and around Edinburgh, we got married in Balbirnie & couldn't recommend it enough - but obviously I'm biased! :o:D

I've also been to fabulous weddings at Cringletie

    Prestonfield

And of course, Edinburgh Castle itself...

Do you mean a catholic or protestant church, I'm going to be presumptuous and assume RC? :o:D The majority of churches would be protestant so you could narrow down the options by finding the RC churches and then find out the hotel/venues close by to them?

Best of luck for the big day!

Both are great choices. I don't have specific suggestions but if you have people travelling it might be worth including the airports that you can fly from as a factor in your decision.

I think getting married in Scotland is very straight forward.
However, I think there's a residency issue when getting married in England.
I may be wrong, but that may affect your decision.

Thanks for the idea about the flights; I just checked them out. And to be honest Bath was looking very good to me. I never thought about the church thing...cheers for that. My husband to be had to move to london for work so he has been working over there for the last year, so hopefully res thing wont be a problem. I finally feel like this could come together. I have got some great ideas for Edinburgh already but has anyone had an experience of nice venue in Bath

This site picks out of handful of wedding venues per county in England. Don't know if that's of any help. Good luck with your big day though!

I'm just throwing this in here even though it is neither of the places you asked about but it is, without doubt, the most beautiful and amazing venue I have ever been in. We attended a wedding here last march and it was like a fairytale! I am only suggesting it as you say your husband to be is working in London. You can have the ceremony and the reception in the same venue.
