Oh god I wish that didn't make sense to me but it did. Nice post. I thought the point on the correlation between religion and cowboy capitalism was especially well made.

Freedomain radio has a particular political agenda so I would take this into consideration and be very careful about believing anything that they have to say.e.g.

PS The same I suppose advice could be given to all media but at least some in principle try to be impartial.
If you read some of freedomainradio stuff, you will see that they are trying to appeal to young immature adolesence kids. They are full of pathetic stuff e.g.Your parents are bullies and you don't love them.

I decide if people's ideas are worthwhile by listening to them and then considering it in line with the information I have. No offense but what your suggesting is that I take a subjective overall view of the person speaking and reject their ideas accordingly.

I did not say that you have to reject his ideas. What I said was 'that he has a particular political agenda so I would take this into consideration and be very careful about believing anything that they have to say.'

As I already suggested, the same advice could also be given to all media.
If I, for example, see a TD on the TV speaking on some important matter, well I do have to take into account what party he represents as this colours his 'spin'.

You cannot fully seperate the speaker from whats been spoken .imo
This is especially true with politics and economics as there are very few absolute and undisputed facts in these matters and we are mainly relying on judgements and opinions. These are only as good as the people giving them.

It good to know where a person / radio/ tv show etc. is coming from.
Keep an open mind but take everything into account.

But by saying this, that means you have a particular agenda, and therefore we should not listen to you.

I never said that one should not listen. All I said is that one should take certain things into account.
So, for example, if I was a member of the one of the opposition government parties (e.g. Labour) and was criticizing government policies, then this would need to be taken into account by the listener.
A similar situation may exist with George Lee. Because of his political involvments, he can (for the present) no longer be considered an objective and independent journalist in Irish political and economic matters, and may have to go through a period of time before we can fully trust his opinion to be objective and free from bias (I'm not sure if anyone is ever totally free from bias).

To me it sounds like subjective bias.'I would take this into consideration and be very careful about believing anything that they have to say.' is a very strong statement, and to me basically means reject their ideas. If someone speaks why not just listen and reflect on it? Vetting them prior to discussion seems like an obstruction to logical thought. Anyway I liked the video, did you?
