Parents are heading off on a cruise - but are unsure as to the on-board payment cashless system works. How do they "pay" at the end of their cruise holiday - they don't have a credit card - but have a laser. The travel agent says the cruise liner doesn't accept laser - so how do they pay for the "onboard credit card" - if the cruise liner doesn't accept cash.

They usually do accept cash. They may look for a deposit at the start of the cruise that'll be deducted from the final bill. Their best bet is to go to the Pursers office after embarkation and arrange it then,i've seen people pay with cash at the end of a cruise so it's deifinitely possible.

You get a card when you arrive on board. That card acts as your room key and charge card. Anything that you purchase, from drinks to duty free will be charged to the card. On the final night of the cruise they post the final bill to your room. If you're using a credit card and are happy with the bill you say nothing and it'll be deducted from your CC. If you're paying with cash you just go down to the pursers desk and pay it there.

You can pay with cash at the end. They will talk you through it when you board, at the check in desk.
