Fiestas - scrappage scheme

    Hi,

I've got an old 96 corsa to trade in as scrappage. I had been looking at stepping up to a larger car as I may have longer trips to do occasionally (connaught/munster from Dublin) but mostly it just runs about the city.

What would any of you recommend in terms of model? I'd prefer 5 door but I can compromise on that.

I'd probably be looking for a diesel mainly for the lower road tax and potentially lower fuel costs (I may be wrong about this of course).

The Zetec-s seems like one possibility. I've no experience of fords or fiestas at all so I'd welcome any opinions.

I'm not fixated on fords either so other brands/model suggestions are welcome.

    Cheers.

The scrappage scheme is only for cars in the A and B tax bands so whatever qualifying model you go for be it petrol or diesel will be in one of those.

    Thanks for the pointer.

The Zetec-S is in band B (barely) at 139 CO2 emissions. Link below.
