    Hi,
I'm curious to know how this same engine is available in 90 ps and 110 ps variants.

Is it down to a bigger turbo in the latter, or is it the presence of an intercooler?

My Ford Focus (UK spec) contains the 110ps version which Ford don't even sell in Ireland. Only the 90ps can be got here.

    Thanks,
    Darren

Its the same engine just the 90bhp version was detuned electronically for the Irish market so that Ford could flog the large number of old 1.8 TDCi models they had an oversupply of.

I had a 110bhp version of the Focus and also drove a 90bhp version once, that 20bhp makes a world of difference.

Thanks. I didn't think it was merely a difference in tuning?

..because I was looking at a couple of remapping databases which reckon that the following can be achieved, which differ for each version:

Model, -Original BHP, -New BHP, -Original torq, -New torq

    "Ford Focus II TDCi 1.6 90" 90 hp 115 hp 215 nm 265 nm
    "Ford Focus II TDCi 1.6 109" 109 hp 137 hp 240 nm 290 nm

I'm easy on the accelerator, so achieving excellent fuel economy (5.6l dsl/100km). *BUT* 137hp looks very tempting - just to know the extra power is there if needed for overtaking, etc :D
