it would depend on why the relationship ended in the 1st place?
Did u break up with them?
Did you cheat on them/treat them bad?
Have you been bad mouthing them behind their back?
Did you just generally end on bad terms?

If yes to any of the above then theres your reson, if not maybe theyre just nervous

Obviously, have to say the same as above. Did things end on (very) bad terms? Did you break up with him/her?

I know what you mean though... and its stupid. Assuming the police weren't involved in your breakup/you slept with the best friend/stalked the ex for two years...
(and EVEN THEN), I can't understand why people don't behave like adults.

Over the years though I have managed to have a friendly word with most of my exes - and yes, it does matter. As long as there's weird behaviour, it's like the issues (read: relationship) is still alive in a ghastly, undead form, like a zombie relationship thats watching you out of the corner of its eye yet won't make eye contact. Shudder.

So, next time, why don't you break the ice? Even a nod will do. Or ideally, 'hello, how are you?' - just enough to break the ice and no more. People generally behave well when they are presented with a model of good behaviour... so the balls in you court.

Oh your one of those 'We can still be friends' types! Its all so chumy chumy.

If you weren't friends before you started going out with your exs, don't expect them to acknowledge your existance after you split. If you were that was always the risk wasn't it. If someone doesn't want to talk to you get over it. There are billions of other people in the world.

If you read some ex type stories you will see that many find that an ex making contact is confusing and upsetting. E.g. 'Do they still like me', 'Are they just getting in contact for their own ego to see if an ex still has feelings for them., 'is there still a chance' etc.

Sometimes its hard enough to get over someone without them being in your face as well.

(if this is the type of stuff you worry about, you've little to be worrying about, count yourself lucky)
