Anyone remember the name of the internet service that was available here in the mid-90s where you could browse and send emails via the terrestrial TV using an infra-red QUERTY keyboard.

It was the first time I used Google for search and was amazed with it's speed and accuracy (still am) but can't remember the name of the service.

    just curious ;]

That's it. I remember it being promoted on the Late Late show when it first came out. I think Independent Newspapers where behind it.

I know someone that still has a Unison STB but I'd hope it doesn't work anymore! It was co-promoted with Chorus cable at one stage as INM owned 50% of it at the time.

They picked the wrong OS for it from the two available for netSTBs at the time (Windows CE and BeIA, BeIA might be gone now but it was a feckload better at the time), coupled with the fact that broadband had just landed in some places - doomed from the start.

Thanks for replies and ya, it's Unison that I was thinking about. As I recall it worked but it's reliability was way flaky as when writing a message it would reset itself and message was gone. Anyway, it was my intro to Google search so thanks for the info (can't believe it was 2000!!, jasus, it seems like 70s technology!). Oh, if anyone wants the gear (you never know!) I believe all of it is up in the attic at the parents' place...
