What do you claim?

    Hi all,

I am recently working back in Ireland and I have been taxed 42% on the whole of my first wage rather than the lower rate for the first €36,400 and higher rate thereafter.

Anyway, while ringing revenue to get my tax cut off for my employer I was thinking to myself while on hold of what I could claim for that I don't know about! I remember working in a hospital a few years ago a guy in my office claimed for having to wash his own uniform and got €600 back in unclaimed tax back.

I am living at home (joint mortgage) with my partner and 1 year old. She gets child benefit to her account but other that that we don't claim anything. EDIT: mortgage relief is claimed

    Can we?!

I'm thinking like bin charges... but we pay management fees not the council for our bins.

If the baby gies to the doctor, who claims for that...

I don't work in a government job anymore but can I claim for my uniform? And I have to pay for my own tools for work (roughly spend €800 pa on my own work gear)

Is there anything you claim that you think is not a common knowledge thing?

    Thanks for reading

I just claimed for bin charges for the last 3 years! I didn't even know about it until reading it in a magazine! so check out PAYE on Revenue.com, When you register you can put in your claims online back to 2006 :)
